In conjunction with Community Youth Center of San Francisco, under the supervision of Dr. Bradford Woo, Azadeh promoted awareness and advocacy for the Asian community within the San Francisco Unified School District. She provided individual and group counseling to students referred by teachers, staff, and parents. Her caseload was 50% Medi-cal covered and enabled her to deepen awareness of privilege and educational inequality.
Under the supervision of Dr. Virginia Bassi, in conjunction with the Partners Program, Azadeh co-led the counseling office of a Title 1 K-8 school. She responded to campus emergencies by coming into the classroom or shared spaces for crisis intervention. She provided individual and group counseling to students, participated in 504 and IEP meetings, and facilitated a restorative justice approach to resolve student disputes. She also was part of team that provided a 5 week summer camp for at-risk students.
Azadeh ran the counseling program for Addison Elementary School, under the supervision of Dr. David Sitzer of Family and Children Services. She provided play based therapy, cooperative games during lunch groups, a 14 week art therapy program and evidenced based cognitive behavioral therapy. She regularly met with teachers and parents to support student success. She participated in IEP and 504 plan meetings. She regularly performed classroom and recess observations of students. She visited classrooms upon teacher or staff request for crisis intervention. The CDC final report on PAUSD was released during Azadeh's internship.
Azadeh represented students in the doctoral of clinical psychology program who came to her with diversity concerns. She presented students' concerns to the core faculty during the bimonthly core faculty meetings. She acted as a liaison between the core faculty and students.
Azadeh ran Fun Clubs at Ronald McDonald House with Stanford Children's Hospital to help children with terminal illnesses and their family overcome anxieties through character building activities. She was invited to present on her experience at the 2016 American Psychological Association's Annual Convention.
